Self-Paced Online Seminar: Program and Project Managers as Creative and Innovative Leaders - 20 PDUs (10 Leadership PDUs + 10 Strategic Mgmt PDUs)


In the current global economic climate, organizations are forced to “innovate or die.” Only innovative organizations can survive the highly competitive global market. As organizations utilize programs and projects to achieve their strategies and goals, there is an increasing need for program and project managers who are also effective organizational leaders, building high performance teams, delivering successful projects and programs, and creating an organizational culture for creativity and innovation.

Earn 20 PDUs (10 Leadership PDUs + 10 Strategic Management PDUs) by reading and reviewing course materials. Upon completion of your reading and reviewing (within six months from your registration date), submit your answers to a short quiz (15 multiple-choice questions), and 20 PDUs (10 Leadeship PDUs + 10 Strategic Management PDUs) will be reported in the PMI CCRS website on your behalf so you do not have to report the PDUs that your earned. You will also receive a Certificate of Completion with the PDU Program Number for your records, and for your use if you prefer to report the PDUs yourself. 

This seminar focuses on leadership competencies required for project / program managers to manage their teams most effectively and as creative and innovative leaders, lead their teams in an organizational culture of creativity and innovation. An innovation framework for project management will be introduced – a structured approach for program and project managers to utilize in starting and delivering innovation projects.

Instructor: Victoria S. Kumar, PMP,

Victoria Kumar served as Project Management Office (PMO) Program Manager / Senior Project Manager for the state of North Carolina Office of the State Controller (NC OSC), where was responsible for implementing project / portfolio management methodologies and developing governance processes to manage the organization’s portfolio. She represented NC OSC in statewide IT project approval processes as statewide project approver, participating with the state’s Enterprise PMO in the state's IT governance process.

Ms. Kumar’s professional career includes project development management with IBM Canada Laboratory and PMO program management, establishing a PMO and implementing IT governance processes through the PMO, both in the private and public sectors.

Ms. Kumar is past president of the PMI North Carolina Chapter. She served the chapter in various board member positions in 2003-2007. She also served as member of the PMI Leadership Institute Advisory Group in 2010 and 2011.

Ms. Kumar has travelled worldwide, presenting in seminars and conferences. Her recent engagements include seminars on “Program and Project Managers as Creative and Innovative Leaders” and “Delivering Successful Projects …Every Time.”

She has delivered leadership development and project management seminars to PMI SeminarsWorld and PMI Global Congress participants, including:

 Program and Project Managers as Creative and Innovative Leaders (2012 - 2013)

Ms. Kumar published several conference papers as part of PMI global congress proceedings. Her latest paper is on “Project Managers as Creative and Innovative Leaders.”

Ms. Kumar holds master’s degrees in pure mathematics and in computer science from University of Waterloo (Canada), where she has also earned PhD credits in management science. She has a master's certificate in IT Project Management from George Washington University. She is a graduate of the PMI Leadership Institute Master Class and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP)®.
